Dear people,
Whenever visitors visit us , we are always told that our kids are so polite. It has always been our goal to make our kids, grateful, honest and happy people.
They all come from an unfair, confused and unsafe past..... It's up to us to LOVE them! Whether it's giving a nice meal or tending to a plaster on an open fallen knee. Also sports , talking, laughing and having a good cry together...it's all part of it.

But above all, we are focused on everyone's talent. I can tell you that it is brimming with talent in Foodstep! Singers, painters, maths lumps, acrobats, footballers, dancers, cooks, gardeners, ....
So we would like to thank all visitors, volunteers and sponsors for helping the kids make their dreams come true!
All donated colouring pencils, sports shoes, clothes, sanitary napkins, seeds, labourers, biscuits , bubble blowers, popcorn, fruit, toothbrushes, pens....
Help build their hopeful future!

Thank you for all your support and love for Foodstep Uganda
Warm regards, Nathalie and the whole Foodstep team

Glass workshop

Written by

Dear friends.

Today turned out to be a truly special day, and I wanted to share it with all of you. My husband, Werner, came across an amazing glass workshop where they make beautiful, handmade glass pieces—things like vases, wine glasses, lamp shades, and more. Many of these pieces are created by blowing the glass by mouth, which is such a unique and incredible skill. Werner surprised me by bringing home a beautiful vase, and it really touched my heart.

At the same time, my son Maxim also surprised me with a bouquet of white lilies—perfect timing! It felt so special to receive flowers from my son and a vase from my husband on the same day.

This experience got me thinking about Foodstep and how we’ve been making glasses from recycled wine and whiskey bottles to sell to visitors. I believe the glass artist, Mr. Amos, could be a wonderful teacher for the Footstep kids, showing them how to work with glass and learn a new skill. It would be a great opportunity for them to create something beautiful and meaningful.

I just want to thank all of you—our friends, family, and sponsors—for your continued love and support. We couldn’t do these projects without you. Your prayers and encouragement mean everything to us.

God bless you, and I hope you have a wonderful week ahead.

With love and gratitude,
Nathalie

Roofing the office

Written by

Our dear friends, we are extremely happy to inform you that the project of roofing the office and resting hut/umbrella was successfully completed.

Much appreciations to our sponsors for fully funded the project. Thank you so much ?? for changing the face of Foodstep for better.

We also extend our gratitude to the contractor Arthur and his team and then some of our children notably Bosco, Junior, Maya and everyone who devoted their valuable time and energy to the end.

The project is still on going and we're positive it will all end well.??

Always stay blessed ??

Dear friends and supporters,

Today has been an emotional journey, one that has left us both deeply grateful and deeply saddened. After more than a decade of perseverance, we finally have a road leading to our main entrance-a feat made possible by the efforts of the local government and our dedicated neighbours. The new road, constructed with a screeder, will bring much-needed comfort and accessibility to our home. This achievement fills our hearts with joy and hope for a better future.

Unfortunately, the day also brought a painful reminder of the challenges we face. Early this morning, we discovered that someone had entered our house, a place meant to be a haven, and stolen from us. They took money from my wallet-money meant to support Footstep's children and other essentials. This person, probably someone who knows our house well, violated our trust. Although the Kasenye Road local police have launched an investigation and deployed search dogs to identify the culprit, this is not the first time we have experienced such a betrayal. This must stop.

We ask for your prayers during this difficult time. Living in Africa is not easy. Progress is often slow, and setbacks can be discouraging.Yet we remain steadfast. We will not be defeated by those who seek to obstruct our path. With God's strength and your unwavering support, we will continue to overcome every challenge.Thank you for your support.May God bless us all.

With gratitude and resilience,

Dear people,

How are things over there in Europe? Here it is dry season and very hot. Fortunately, we now have our own well , so no more water shortage.
The children have a short holiday and so are cosily all at home in the Home. Everyone helps to keep everything running smoothly. Friends and visitors also make it very cosy. They came together with our kids to organise fun activities.
For instance, all the rooms were refreshed with a new coat of paint. New recipes were prepared in the cooking pots.
Running competitions and games without borders, where our Foodstep kids always returned home with the victory. The vegetables from our garden are growing like cabbage. We now also have a chicken garden, patiently waiting for the first eggs. A new picking of mushrooms is also on the agenda. Our restaurant has already had many people enjoying our own harvest, cooked by the children.

In our bungalow, we can finally start painting. Hopefully you will be able to stay soon.

We were also able to welcome some new children to Foodstep. Lovely to see these little wounded birds growing up in a warm nest.

But you didn't sit still for Foodstep either!
Friends went to promote Foodstep at party markets, both in Belgium and the Netherlands.
Many sewing projects were sold, made by our Joel. New interns are already booked. And for the first time we were able to make a good video call with Basisschool de Akker in NL, who raised a nice amount for Foodstep by selling plants.
Supper thanks for that!
On top, may I certainly not forget to mention that on 8 July 2023, our deliciously familiar Bbq will continue! Don't forget to sign up! Everyone welcome. And thanks in advance!!!

Among all this good news, we also had some bad news. Our best friend, Jan Van Droogenbroeck, (pizzeria Goretties) passed away unexpectedly.
He had a funeral service in Belgium and his ashes were scattered in Lake Victoria here in Uganda. It was a dignified farewell. He is greatly missed!

We would like to thank you all for your support, prayers and love for Foodstep Uganda. We promise that all the kids will have a happy, hopeful future!
God's Blessing
